Accredited Courses The Traditional Upholstery Workshop is an approved training centre for the Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers. In addition to the Traditional Upholstery Workshop Diploma course we also offer the AMUSF accredited Level 2 and Level 3 Craft Certificate courses. The Craft Certificate courses take place over a period of seven weeks for each level and follow a syllabus of work which is structured and assessed by the AMUSF. The Level 2 Craft Certificate will provide the student with enough skills to upholster most types of furniture and leads on to the Level 3 Craft Certificate which covers more advanced items of furniture and is aimed towards those wanting to gain the skills necessary to start an upholstery business
Upholstery Level 2 During the course you will study and/or produce the following: Basic Design Skills: sketching, colour co-ordination and scale drawings Health & Safety relevant to the work place Use of tools and materials Basic sewing machine skills Fabric pattern matching & trimmings An understanding of the Fire Regulations Upholster a drop-in seat using traditional methods (exercise) Upholster a stitched & stuffed seat (exercise) Upholster a stitched & stuffed sprung side-chair Upholster a sprung arm (exercise) Upholster a modern stool or headboard to be deep buttoned (exercise) Upholster a sprung TV/Fireside/Nursing Chair - traditionally Make a Box Cushion with Zip (exercise) Produce a project on Contemporary Furniture Upholstery Level 3 In order to do the Level 3 qualification, you will need to have passed Level 2. Provided that you have physical evidence and that all the necessary elements of Level 2 have been achieved, it may be possible to start at Level 3. A REGISTRATION AND CERTIFICATION FEE OF £28 PER STUDENT IS PAYABLE FOR EACH LEVEL OF THE AMUSF ACCREDITED COURSES
